The S.R. Smith Backstroke Start System is a raised, diamond-patterned non-slip backstroke ledge designed to make backstroke starts faster and reduce the chance of slipping. Ledge height is adjusted with one hand in or out of the pool; it complies with FINA 2.10 and fits most platforms and blocks with three different mounting kits.
The reel end is marked in millimeter increments (-40, -20, 0, 20, 40), clearly showing the ledge height relative to the water level for compliance. Hard elements of the internal and external mechanisms are protected by a durable HDPE frame.
Three mounting options are offered: the anchor mount kit (13-600), anchored to the deck with plastic-headed stainless steel wing bolts; the bracket mount kit (13-601), consisting of a 10 ft polyester strap, stainless steel cam buckle and vinyl-coated 1/4" stainless steel bracket; and the square block anchor kit (13-603), with a vinyl-coated 1/4" stainless steel plate that locks onto 2-inch square single-post frames.
